L.E.A.D. Fellowship Project
Oliver designed a Mobile Health Screening Unit (MHSU) — in his words, “a mobile health screening cart with digital records will bring affordable preventive checkups and follow-up care directly to rural residents, reducing missed visits and improving early detection of chronic diseases.” His study asks whether screening through the unit raises residents’ hypertension risk literacy, measured before and after.
“Residents who receive screening through the Mobile Health Screening Unit will demonstrate a statistically significant higher mean accuracy in hypertension risk-level awareness, compared to residents not receiving the MHSU screening.”
The protocol is complete, with a working budget of about $8,550, and the project is in its fundraising phase.
L.E.A.D. Fellows raise the funding for their own projects as a core part of the Fellowship. Gifts to Eat The Elephant support fellows' research, scholarships, and the Lubao partnership.
