L.E.A.D. Fellowship Project
Many Philippine elementary schools teach science without laboratories. Yashasvi — a HOSA competitor who placed first in Anatomy at State and Nationals and volunteers at Pomona Valley Hospital — designed a study of what happens when grades 5–6 get real medical tools in their hands: blood-pressure monitors, stethoscopes, and diagnostic kits.
“5th and 6th graders in the Philippines that lack science laboratories and are provided with basic medical and health-science devices will show a statistically significant increase in their knowledge and comfortability in using various pieces of medical equipment.”
Yashasvi’s $3,000 goal supports multiple classrooms and a permanent health-science resource library for the schools.
L.E.A.D. Fellows raise the funding for their own projects as a core part of the Fellowship. Gifts to Eat The Elephant support fellows' research, scholarships, and the Lubao partnership.
